Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Friday, November 28, 2014

I'm so excited! I was nominated by the awesome Noelia from A Day in Bookland for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! Sorry it took so long to post it, Noelia, but real life got in the way. Stupid school and work! But, finally, here it is!

First off, some rules to follow:

1) Thank the blogger that nominated you and link back to their site
2) Post the award's logo on your blog
3) Answer the 10 questions you've been asked
4) Nominate 10 bloggers
5) Set 10 new questions for your nominees

My answers to Noelia's Questions:

1.) Besides reading, what other hobbies do you have?

Well, I mostly write when I'm not reading. I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I unfortunately haven't had to time to do much since I've started college. I have a few book ideas I hope to finally get written once I graduate, though. Perhaps you'll see me published one day. ;)

2.) If you could travel through time, which period would you go to?

That's easy - I'd go to the 1850s, right smack dab in the pioneering era. I've always loved the idea of going on the Oregon Trail, even though it would be a dangerous and probably tedious journey. But at least there would be plenty of adventure!

3.) The meaning behind your blog name?

Well, there really is no special meaning to it. I thought of a ton of others before this one, but they were all taken. -__-  I read an ethnography in college called, "The Space Between the Road" or something like that and I was like, "Of course! Space Between the Spines!" I thought it sounded pretty deep and cool, too. XD So, there's the birth of my blog.

4.) When do you normally read?

It really depends. Usually I read in the late evening, as a means to settle down from the day. Sometimes that backfires, though. If it's a good book, I end up reading way into the night and waking up tired for class or work. But, now that we're right in the middle of the semester, I read whenever I have a spare moment, as they are few and far in between.

5.) If you find yourself in a zombie apocalypse, which 5 fictional characters would you like to have on your side to help you fight off the zombies?

Is it bad that I've actually considered this before? Well, I'd pick Perry, from Under the Never Sky. He seems like he could handle himself well. I'd throw Four in there as well, since he could fight them off. I'd have Leo, from the Heros of Olympus series, so he could come up with some fantastic gadget that kills all the Zombies. Probably Katniss, too, so she could shoot them with arrows from far away. Do they have to all be book fictional characters? If not, my final choice would be Fox Mulder from X-Files. He'd know all about Zombies and how best to kill them.

6.) Do you listen to music while reading?

Never. I hate even having the TV on. I need silence to focus and really enjoy a book.

7.) Favorite book of your least favorite genre?

Hmm... I really don't know. My least favorite genre would probably be sci-fi, but I have a feeling that Ender's Game would be good. I haven't read it, but it's on my TBR shelf and I've heard good reviews. Does that count???

8.) Book that left you feeling like an emotional wreck?

Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. I finished the book bruised, but - overall - fairly satisfied. But while I read it, I wondered how much pain she could inflict on my beloved men! Sooo hard to read, but soooo worth it in the end.

9.)  Do you hate a book everybody seems to love or the other way around?

The Selection by Kiera Cass. Everyone seems to love this book and I can't figure out why. I've written a review of it and you can learn all about me reasoning behind hating it. XD

10.) Would you rather have a book with a closed ending or one with a little cliffhanger that would imply the possibility of another book?

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. While I hate them, the fact that I'm so upset about them tends to indicate that I love the book or series. Usually, though, I prefer closed endings. I love how in The House of Hades, Riordan mentions in his acknowledgements how sorry he was to his readers for the cliffhanger in Mark of Athena. Lol.

And here are my questions to those I tag:

1.) What book are you looking forward to the most in 2015
2.) If your favorite female character were a Disney princess, who would they be?
3.) A song that describes your love life?
4.) What's your favorite ship in your favorite series?
5.) What was your favorite childhood chapter book/series?
6.) What's your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? It doesn't necessarily have to be recent or even considered a "great" movie.
7.) If you lived in the Divergent world, what faction would you be in?
8.) If you could have a fictional little sibling, who would it be?
9.) Do you have any bookish swag? Pictures of it would be nice to see, too!
10.) If you could be one fictional character for a day, who would it be?

And here's who I tag! I'm aware some of you have already been tagged, but I was just interested in seeing your answers. Please don't feel compelled to post them if you don't want to.

1.) Cassie @ Citrus Reads
3.) Jules @ The Book of Jules
4.) Amy @ The Blog Hermit
5.) Lauren @ Always Me

Please link me back your posts! I'm interested to see what you come up with!
Thanks so much again, Noelia, for the nomination! ^-^

  1. LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR ANSWERS!!!! First of all, it could be awesome if you could publish one day ^^. Your choice of time period to travel is quite interesting but yes I agree: plenty of adventure for you!
I feel you wehn a book makes you stay awake all night... my dark circles are living proof of that LOL
I've never seen X-Files but I do approve of you team, especially Leo (he's amazing, isn't he? Love Leo to pieces!) And yes, Ender's Game counts (love your reasoning for that question hahaha). I need to read Shadow & Bone and it's finally happen *applauses* I have not read The Selection though but I've heard the main character is the most annoying thing ever so I'm not sure I would like that. And Riordan was so mean about that acknowledgments but hilarious as well!
Oh, and I love the reason behind your blog's name =)
Thank you so much for answering the question, I loved reading them ;)

    1. Thanks, Noelia! It was definitely fun thinking about them. Some of the questions I had to stop and think to myself for a while, but it was definitely fun. It was hilarious how quickly I was able to assemble my "zombie apocalypse" team. Haha. XD

  2. Great answers! Good zombie apocalypse team, too. I haven't read The Selection, but I can completely understand your reasoning in your review.

Thanks for the tag, by the way. I'll probably answer the questions since I've done this one before.
