 The Christmas Carol
Book Tag

So, after having been gone from the blogosphere for an age, I'm in quite the bloggy mood. You can guess what that means, right? Time for some fun tags!

Even though it's only Thanksgiving, everyone seems to be starting to get into the holiday spirit. Even me! I already have my Christmas tree up and the majority of my Christmas shopping done, actually.

To keep in the spirit, I'm going to be doing the Christmas Carol Book Tag, where you answer questions stemming from famous Christmas carols. (I totally stole this from Eclectic Introspections, by the way.) So, here we go!

1.) "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" - Name a villainous character you can't help but love to hate.

That one's easy: Delores Umbridge. We all hated this bitch, right? She's so manipulative and crazy and we all wanted to punch her in the face when she made Harry cut himself with the quill. D:< I straight up cheered when Fred and George got the best of her.

On the other hand, I absolutely love StarKid Potter's interpretation of Umbridge...

2.) "All I Want for Christmas Is You" - What book do you most want to find under your Christmas tree this year?

Only one? *Headdesk* Well, I have plenty of books on my list, but I think the biggest one I want to get is Breaking the Rules by Katie McGarry. Of course, seeing as it's a Kindle release only, it wont really be under my tree... =/

3.) "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" - Name your favorite character that had to overcome a major obstacle. Why are they your favorite?

I think I'll go with Alina from the Shadow & Bone series by Leigh Bardugo. Alina never really dreamed of doing anything big or grand with her life, but it was thrust upon her when she became the Sun Summoner. She had to adjust to life as a savior and celebrity and oftentimes faced deadly foes and dangers. Every tragedy that was forced upon her, she just go right back up from and tried harder. She's one of my all-time favorite heroines.

4.) "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" - Which character do you think is at the top of Santa's "Nice" List and which is at the top of his "Naughty" List?

Well, I guess I'm only going to choose from books that released this year, seeing as it's this year's lists. The top of the "Nice" list will be Simon Lewis, seeing as he practically scarified himself in City of Heavenly Fire. We all luff Simon, right? *Hugs him* And the top of the "Naughty" List. Hmm... I think I'll go with Hess and Sable from Into The Still Blue. They got what was coming to them! Humph!

5.) "Frosty the Snowman" - What book just melts your heart?

Isla and the Happily Ever by Stephanie Perkins. In fact, Anna and Lola could compete for this spot, too. Perkins is the master of writing adorable fluff and romances that bring the tears.

6.) "Feliz Navidad" - Your favorite book that takes place in a country other than your own?

I'm going to go with the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, which takes place in New Beijing. I luff me some Kai, Wolf, and Thorne.

7.) "It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" - What book do you read to get you into the Christmas spirit?

I don't read many Christmasy books, unless they're Amish fiction or something. This year, though, I really want to read My True Love Gave To Me: Twelve Holiday Stories as well as Let It Snow. Hopefully I can get to them!

8.) "Sleigh Ride" - What character would you most want to spend the holiday with?

Jem Carstairs! He can take me on all the sleigh rides we wants, as well as play carols on his violin all night long. *Sigh* If only he were real...

9.) "Baby It's Cold Outside" - Which book do you hate so much you'd sacrifice it to the fire to stay warm?

Well, it's hard to say I HATE a book. I could really dislike it, but it's hard to hate a book. I guess I'd go with The Selection, by Kiera Cass. Just, ugh. I can't stand it. America and Maxon make me want to gag.

10.) "Do You Hear What I Hear?" - What book would you recommend to everyone?

Sisters Red and the rest of the Fairy Tale Retellings series by Jackson Pearce. Sooo wonderful and some of the best retellings I've ever read! Definitely pick if you like that sort of thing!

You've Been Tagged! Please link me your answers! I'm eager to see them! And if I didn't tag you and you want to do it, well, consider yourself tagged!

  1. Thanks for tagging me Brittany! I'll try and do it ASAP. I still have to post another tag so yours will go up after that =)
I adore Simon, I mean, he is probably my favourite character from TMI. Hands down and yes! he did quite the sacrifice in the last book, even though I believe he's being sacrificing himself throughout the entire series.... poor thing but he's still as sassy as ever hahaha
Dolores Umbridge.... argggggg I hate that one but I'm not really know if I love to hate her. I just hate her. I wanted to kill her during The Order of the Phoenix. She was mean.
Oh, and I'm so glad you liked the fairy tales retelling by Jackson Pearce, I want to read them so badly!

    1. No problem! And take your time if you need to. It took me weeks to get to yours! XD

Yes, Simon is pretty awesome. XD He went through so much and still manages to come up punching. <3 I think Umbridge will be the go-to character to hate for a lot of the people who do this tag, too. It'll be interesting to see what you and everyone can come up with. And you neeed to read Jackson Pearce's work! They're awesome!

Can't wait to see what you come up with! ^-^

  2. Thank you again for tagging me Brittany!

Okay as soon as I read number six my answer was the Lunar Chronicles. I'm so in love with this series. The setting, the characters, just everything! I'm actually really excited to do this tag, I'll be working on it first thing tomorrow! Happy Thanksgiving :)

    1. No problem, Martika! I look forward to seeing your answers! ^-^ And yus, Lunar Chronicles is awesome!!

  3. Thanks for nominating me!

Excellent answers! Mind if I borrow any? :)

    1. Ok! Here they are:

    2. Thanks, girl! You're answers were spot on, too!

  4. The Umbridge interpretation makes the real her look like a peach! *shuddering*
I love Simon too! He's such a great friend and a good guy!
The Selection? Haha :D I know it's frustrating as hell! You team Aspen or team I wish The Selection would just disappear?
There's gonna be a new book called the Heir wish America's daughter in the selection

    1. Haha! I laugh every time I see that little sketch. The whole play is pretty hilarious, honestly. XD

I'm pretty much "team wish it would disappear". >.> Although, if I had to choose, at least Aspen had SOME character development. I wrote a pretty scathing review a while back - it's the only really bad review I've left, but it was SOO much fun to hash out all the problems.

And there's going to be a sequel? Just what the world needed.... -__-

    2. Haha :D So many people are pissed off about that series!
I just tagged you for the Christmas Gift Guide Tag!
You can check it out here

  5. This is such a cute tag!

I agree with your Frosty choice. I loved Isla and the Happily Ever After, but the other two books were just as sweet. :)

    Erin @ The Hardcover Lover

    1. Yes, I'm so fortunate a friend of mine turned me toward her! It's great reading her fluffy romance, but I have to say I'm intrigued as to how her new horror book will be...

  6. Omg, I have to do this tag. It looks like a lot a fun.
I have to agree with you on Simon being at the top of the "nice list" he is just so sweet and such a great friend. Jem too! It would be really nice to hang out with him.

    1. Well, consider yourself tagged! ^-^ It was definitely a lot of fun coming up with the answers. Link me back your response whenever you get around to posting it, though. I'd love to see it. =)

  7. I love fairy tale retellings! I'm with you on The Selection. I know a lot of people love the series but I just did not like it at all.

    1. You should definitely read them if you haven't already! I can't praise them enough!

And, lol, good. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like it. Sometimes I feel like I'm in my own little "Didn't like The Selection" corner. XD
