What If Book Characters Were Pokemon? #2

Saturday, November 29, 2014

So, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby have finally been released and I'm having a blast playing through it. I'm currently past the sixth gym and I have Swampert, Manectric, Altaria, Brelume, Camerupt, and Gardevoir on my team! It's a pretty competitive team and I'm hoping to beat the game before too long and, eventually, do some shiny hunting.

But I can't help but wonder again... Who would some of my other favorite characters be if they were Pokemon? Well, here's another list I'd like to share. Hopefully you'll find it as entertaining as the first one!

Number One: Percy Jackson

                  ______
                  ______

Empoleon's Pokedex Entry: It swims as fast as a jet boat. The edges of its wings are sharp and can split apart drifting ice. Well, Percy's the son of Poseidon, so how could I NOT pick the Pokemon that sports a trident? This water Pokemon is definitely a good match for the seaweed brain Percy.

Number Two: Mrs. Weasley, from Harry Potter

                   ______
                   ______

Kangaskhan's Pokedex Entry: To protect its young, it never gives up during battle, no matter how wounded it is. Do I even need to explain this one? The Pokedex entry says it all. Except, instead of one baby in her pouch, she'd have seven.

Number Three: Jace from The Mortal Instruments

                   ______
                   ______

Monferno's Pokedex Entry: To intimidate attackers, it stretches the fire on its tail to make itself appear bigger. I think Monferno is a pretty good fit for our favorite shadowhunter, as he's fierce and prone to being rash and throwing himself into battle. Not only that, but Monferno evolves into one of the most competitive Pokemon, just like Jace will be one to contend with when it's grown. Hell, he's hard to fight now!

Number Four: Tris from Divergent

                      ______
                      ______

Pancham's Pokedex Entry: It does its best to be taken seriously by its enemies, but its glare is not sufficiently intimidating. Chewing on a leaf is its trademark. Well, this Pokedex entry is a little misleading. Tris might not always be taken seriously, but she does manage to kick some ass while looking good doing is, so Pancham would be a perfect match!

Number Five: Howl from Howl's Moving Castle

                 ______
                 ______

Espurr's Pokedex Entry: It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power. Like Espurr, Howl posses great magical abilities, and sometimes... Well, he can't control himself. He's sometimes absent, like Espurr's distant gaze and, let's face it, Howl is downright adorable, just like Espurr.

Well, there you have it! The second installment of my Pokemon posts. Hope you enjoyed it and I'm so glad you guys humor me and my nerdiness! Would you like to see more? What characters would you like to see Pokemonized? Let me know in a comment!

  1. Okay, I need to ask this now ... How long does it take you to find these matches? It seems like a looooot of work because they always seem so fitting!

I love your choices for everyone, even though I don't know Howl, but your explanations all make sense! Great picks, awesome idea and super interesting! :D

    1. Haha! Actually, it usually doesn't take THAT long. I tend to pick the characters where their Pokémon counterpart comes right to mind. I DID have to think about Howl for a bit, though. And you totally need to read Howl's Moving Castle! It's great!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoying it as much as I do. I know, I'm such a nerd. >.<

    1. That was my intent all along. ;) There were probably some other Pokémon he could have been, but this one just seemed the most fitting.

  7. It's a very good idea you had there! Associating book characters with pokemon is quite fun, and I found your description for Howl and Molly Weasley quite accurate!
    :-3

But I don't totally agree with the previous one, where you associate Harry Potter with Pikachu: of course, they both have a lightning feature and both occupy a center place in their respective stories; and they're both dedicated to their friends.
But still, I don't feel this association much... Maybe because Pikachu isn't the hero of his story while Harry is! Therefore, Pikachu has a supporting role that Harry doesn't have; Pikachu appears powerful and rather level-headed, but he isn't the main character. (Even though he's quite more famous than Ash) ^^

I am very late in terms of pokemon, I stopped many years ago when the third generation was coming; but I'll catch up if I start playing it!
Your blog is lovely, it's a pleasure reading it. :-)

  8. Aww, you stopped by! *Hugs*

Thanks for all your kind comments about the post and my blog. It's definitely fun coming up with the associations. And I can see your point with Harry and Pikachu. But it just makes me feel sorry for poor Ash. Poor guy isn't even famous in his own anime... XD
