Infinity Dreams Award

Monday, May 2, 2016

Yay! I'm excited to say that I've been nominated for the Infinity Dreams Award! A big, special thanks to Lauren at Always Me for nominating me. If you haven't be sure to check out her blog - it's awesome!

 1. Give 11 facts about yourself.

2. Answer the 11 questions set to you by the blogger who nominated you.

3. Nominate 11 bloggers to receive this award

4. Ask the bloggers you have nominated to answer 11 questions (bonus points for those who answer in a vlog).
Eleven Facts About Me:
1.) I'm cheap, so I tend to preorder books - at least the ones I know for sure I want to read and add to my collection - from Barnes & Noble for a fraction of the price. If you don't have a membership there, I highly suggest you get one. You can get new YA books for about $12 as opposed to the usual $18.99 as well as free shipping!
2.) I'm currently mooching off one of my friend's Netflix to watch Korean dramas. I rationalize it by saying it's good to help me recognize common words for my trip in October.
3.) I've been on a strict diet going on six months. I haven't had fast food since around Thanksgiving and, as a result, have lost 40 pounds! Lean 1 and Smoothie King have been my best friends in this time. Here's me showing off the recent weight loss at my local library. Yay, photoshoot~
4.) I kickbox at a local gym called 9Round and love it! I've been there for nearly a year. In my first few months there, I gained a whopping 20 pounds of muscle! I also got my own bag for home on my last birthday!
5.) I watch more Netflix and YouTube than I do regular TV. I never thought I'd be one of "those" people, but nothing beats a good book in comparison.
6.) Opal and Mother of Pearl are my favorite gemstones.
7.) I've taken up beading and jewelry making as a hobby and my "specialty" is bookmarks. Here are a few that I've done so far. I'm thinking about selling some in the future~

8.) I have bad book anxiety when it comes to finishing a series. I've been putting off Winter by Marissa Meyer for what seems like an age just because I'm scared of what might happen. >.<

9.) I currently have, like, eight reviews I need to write, but I'm being lazy and doing something more fun like this. XD

10.) Back in March, I got to meet Rachel Platten!

11.) My house tends to be a mess, but my bookshelves are pristine.

Lauren's Questions:

1.) What is your guilty pleasure song? It honestly tends to change from time to time. I suppose for now, it would likely be Fight Song by Rachel Platten.

2.) Do you have any tattoos? Yup! One of the Christian Fish on my right wrist and a Celtic cross with a rose wrapped around it on my left shoulder.

3.) What is your favorite city? Probably the one my family hails from - Wilmington, North Carolina. Looooove the beach! Wish I lived closer.

4.) If you had a daughter, what would you name her? Hmm... I've always been partial to Kimberly, but I've started to grow fond of Micheline.

5.) What's your most recently discovered favorite song / favorite at the moment? Unlove You by Jennifer Nettles. Already preordered a signed copy of her new album!

6.) Name a place or a few places at the top of your travel bucket list. Korea was definitely up there, and luckily I'll be visiting there soon! In addition to that, though, I'd love to see Greece, Ireland/England or California.

7.) How old were you when you started blogging? How has your blog changed since then? Twenty-four and I just recently brought the blog back from the dead.

8.) What's your favorite musical? Chicago!! He had it comin'!

9.) What was your latest five star read? Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry. It was lovely and swoon-worthy and I hope to have a review of it up real soon!

10.) With what word would you most like people to describe you? Probably quiet and/or reserved, but that's just because I don't like to interject myself into needless conversation. Listening is a lot more fun than speaking.

11.) Tell us about a book that's changed your life. Gosh, there are a number of ones I could out for this spot. I think I'd go with Redwall by Brian Jacques or Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, as they are the series that my best friends and I bonded over.

My Questions for You:
1.) What's your favorite beverage (alcoholic or otherwise, doesn't matter)?
2.) What's the longest time you've ever lived in one place?
3.) What's one of your biggest fears?
4.) What is the worst book you've read this year?
5.) If you could have any one book made into a movie, what would it be?
6.) What trait to you find most desirable in a likable main character?
7.) In what way do you express yourself artistically?
8.) What's your favorite sport?
9.) What's the craziest thing you've done in your lifetime?
10.) What's your favorite genre of books and music?
11.) What your favorite "lesser known" or "hidden gem" book you've ever read?
Seeing as I've been out of the blogging loop for a while, I'm not sure who has done this tag and who hasn't, so if you are reading this and haven't been nominated for the award, then consider yourself nominated by me! I look forward to knowing each of you a little better!

  1. This post was so much fun to read!

If I had stable internet, I'd probably be one of "those" youtube/Netflix people too. :)

Congrats on the weight loss! I've never had to do it, but I do understand that it is not easy. I really admire people who do it, because it is hard.

Kickboxing sounds like a lot of fun.

Oh, Winter is really good. I put it off for a while too, but there wasn't too much to worry about. It's as good as the rest of the series! I hope you enjoy it!

Lauren from Always Me contacted me about a book review train ya'll were doing? I told her I'd love to join in.

Oh, and you're blog is super cute!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by! And I'm definitely glad to hear that I don't need to worry too much about Winter! Lol.

Of course! We'd be more than happy to have you join us! I should be posting information about it later on today or tomorrow. ^-^

  2. Meeting Rachel Platten is so cool! And good on you for the dieting and kick boxing. Congratulations on all you have lost and if you're planning to keep it up, well then kick-butt at it like you're doing already! Also, you're not cheap - just clever. I'm always looking for ways to get the books cheap as well xD

    1. Thank you! It's certainly been hard but now that I've been on the diet for so long, my body has adjusted pretty well. I'm not as hungry as I used to be and even if I DO indulge and eat something sweet or greasy, my stomach revolts, lol. I hope to keep it up so I guess we'll see how much I can lose.

Haha! Glad to know I have others out there who understand it's not an issue of being cheap, but smart. ;)

  3. Wow - losing 40 pounds is amazing! Kick boxing looks like so much fun! I wish I could take it up - knowing I could kickbox would make me feel a lot safer walking alone in the dark, haha. Your book marks are so pretty! Have you considered setting up an etsy shop for them? I've seen a few people do it, and they've done really well with it, as well as expanding their audience. I love the beach so much, too! :D

    1. It's certainly not easy - pretty sure I about puked after the first workout, lol - but I've come to really enjoy it over the past months. The gym is pretty small and intimate, so we all feel like a big family cheering each other on.

I've thought about selling them on Etsy, but I just don't know if they're good enough. XD I'm still new at it, but I might try selling or giving away a few here on the blog first, to see how they are received. Thanks for the complement, though! It's definitely encouraging. ^-^

Thanks for shout out, Brittany! :)

That's the best way to get new books - those memberships sure are nice!

Woot! Congrats on the weight loss!

Winter was an excellent conclusion and I hope you love it!

I think I have somewhere around six reviews to write at the moment...

I totally feel you with Micheline! :)

You're right - listening can be much more fun.

Firstlife and Guy in Real Life have been my worst two reads this year so far.

    1. Of course! Thanks for nominating me for the tag! <3

I JUST finished Winter yesterday and I really did enjoy it. I'm glad to know that my fears were unfounded! Now on to that review... (As well as a ton of others, lol.)

Hmm, I wonder where I first heard the name Micheline.... =P

Lame! You've read two terrible books so far this year? >.< Luckily, I haven't read a TERRIBLE book yet, but there have been a couple lack-luster.
