Waiting on Wednesday - Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn't think they'd survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they're right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and left crippled by the kidnapping of a valuable team member, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz's cunning and test the team's fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city's dark and twisting streets―a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of magic in the Grisha world.

September is going to be epic for so many reasons, only one of them being the release of Crooked Kingdoms, but you can bet I’m super excited to get my hands on this. As I’ve noted before – and you can see in my sidebar – Bardugo is one of my favorite writers, and the fact that she chose to continue a companion series set in Ravka makes me ridiculously happy. I loved the world she created, the grisha system in general, and all the characters from the first series. I devoured Six of Crows in, like, two days and that was pretty damn fast, considering I was working and going to grad school. XD
Also – I know you guys agree with me – I need some more Kaz x Inej in my life. Like, right now. Like, yesterday.
September 27th, you can’t get here quick enough!

    1. Try to make the time to read SIX OF Crows when you can. You certainly won't regret it. Maybe you can read it in September, then just binge read both, lol.

  2. Okay. Okay. Deep breaths here... Six of Crows was my favorite book of 2015 and my excitement for Crooked Kingdom is INTENSE. I'm THERE WITH YOU. I'm just in such suspense over what will happen with these lovable, crooked characters. I want Kaz and Inej to have at least some semblance of a Happily Ever After, and I want them to do it in style!

    1. Kaz is such an awesome character! I'd love to delve a little more deeply into his personality, seeing as he's so determined to keep everyone at a distance. We got a little of his backstory, but it wasn't enough!
